Reuben Law work with several businesses in the free zones
In recent years there has been many up-and-coming free zones, with more than a dozen presently running in the UAE. Customarily the free zones were located around major seaport or airport facilities. For example, the Jebel Ali and Hamriyah Free Zones are centred around man-made seaports, and the Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi Airport Free Zones.
A few free zones serve a specific industry; Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) for example, serves the financial sector and from which we have worked with a large number of businesses on banking and finance law.
Reuben Law and the DIFC in Dubai
The DIFC is a financial centre which draws a large number of financial services providers as well as insurance companies and legal services providers.
Reuben Law have had several meetings with large stakeholders in the DIFC and continue to work collaboratively with banks and financial services providers as their go-to legal firm for all legal assistance.
The DIFC is distinctive in comparison to the other free zones in the UAE as it has its own legislative system of commercial laws and regulations focused significantly on the principles of English Common Law.
Further, the DIFC has an independent judicial system responsible for the independent administration and enforcement of justice in the DIFC. As well as having exclusive jurisdiction of all civil and commercial disputes arising within the DIFC, parties reputable outside of the DIFC can select to have their commercial contractual relationships governed by DIFC law, DIFC courts, or arbitration or mediation in harmony with the DIFC-LCIA Arbitration Centre rules, with whom Reuben Law have built a solid relationship.
